ABOUT US
We are the social arm of the Guatemalan Sugar Industry, we are the Sugar Foundation -Fundazucar- created in 1990 by the Sugar Association of Guatemala, with the aim of contributing to the development and welfare of the country.
The foundation promotes social programs focused on the areas of health, education and municipal strengthening, aimed at women, youth, teachers, health workers, community leaders and municipal authorities; key actors of a responsible citizenship.
We work on the formation of human capital with a comprehensive approach, which relies on the capabilities and potential that each individual possesses to achieve their own development.
We share and enhance basic knowledge through our programs, empowering people and fostering a change in behavior, which is later reflected in greater autonomy and the making of assertive decisions that improve the quality of life of people in the communities where we implement programs.
Over the years, experience has taught us that better results are achieved by focusing on the roots of the problems and not their effects, so each program is designed with a logical framework methodology, to train key actors to promote the development of their community and allow sustainability by continuously seeking solutions in the short, medium and long term.
The Guatemalan Sugar Industry promotes the development and well-being of the communities through a responsible operation and the execution of social programs aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals -SDG-.
