If you visit the Las Lisas beach in Chiquimulilla, Santa Rosa, (160 km south from Guatemala City) you will find 30 chefs and cooks graduated from the Diploma in Gastronomic Diversification promoted by the Sugar Foundation – Fundazucar- in alliance with the Ministry of Economy and the local government.
This course, aimed at hotel and restaurant cooks and chefs, is part of the “Sustainable Strategy for Fishing and Tourism” which aims to promote economic reactivation in the beach areas of the shore of Guatemala.
The 30 chefs and cooks learned new recipes for dishes based on seafood from the region to be able to present innovative dishes to their customers and thus expand the gastronomic offer for tourists who visit the beach.
The graduates will continue their training the in 2022 at the Technical Institute for Training and Productivity -Intecap- with the diploma of “Cuisine of the Sea” with a scholarship granted by Fundazucar to continue innovating in new recipes.
The Gastronomic Diversification Diploma has been given in the towns of Escuintla, Santa Rosa and Retalhuleu and more than 200 chefs and cooks have graduated.
